Tulsa World features CEO Sarah Gould: a Tulsa architect with a vision

Tulsa World spotlights Ethos CEO Sarah Gould and her people-first approach to architecture. The story highlights three priorities that guide her leadership at Ethos: delivering quality design that uplifts communities, growing regional impact across Oklahoma, and expanding public education about the built environment. “Architecture is more than what we design,” Sarah says. “It is about who we serve and how we create a better, more thriving community.” This reflects the ethos of Ethos: collaboration, character, community, and creativity.

Since joining Ethos in 2009 and becoming CEO in 2020, Sarah has helped evolve the firm while keeping that ethos front and center. A Tulsa native from a family of educators, she champions mentorship and real-world exposure for students, including K–12 programs and hands-on learning with project teams.

That commitment shows up in our work across the region, from libraries and community health to cultural and civic projects. Recent efforts include the Tulsa City-County Library system, City Lights Village, Discovery Lab, and the Family Safety Center, each designed to strengthen connections and serve people well. The feature underscores a simple idea that guides our practice: great architecture begins with people, and our ethos keeps us accountable to that purpose.
